Since 1939 the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has been a world pioneer in documentary and animation. NFB Archives is its licensing branch, with excerpts and outtakes from more than 13,000 NFB productions and acquired content from around the world, dating from the dawn of cinema to today. We specialise in both World Wars, Indigenous peoples in Canada, and environmental subjects including the Arctic, but we also have a large amount of footage shot in the US. Our collection is mostly film-backed, with Academy Award-winning preservation and state-of-the-art in-house transfers to any format.
